The latest release on Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint finds the label presenting the first installment of it’s ‘Correlation’ series. These VA collections will stretch across the globe searching out the finest untapped talent along with industry veterans. With a fresh and borderless approach the label explores a full spectrum of electronica, from house to techno and deeper progressive grooves. Wrapped up in this eleven track journey is a veritable smorgasbord of beats and melodies that are sure to delight the senses. Featured on the first installment are (in order of appearance) Pablo Cetrini, Emiliano Demarco, Nico Bruno, Monojoke, Feri, Paul Deep (AR) and Martin Gardoqui, Hot TuneiK, AavA, Lucefora and Boggan, Rafa’ EL and Tomin Tomovic.
The release begins with Pablo Cetrini returning to the label and presenting his latest original entitled ‘Intentions’. The Guy Mantzur favourite brings more of his pure progressive sensibilities with a deep, mystical and incredibly groovy creation that sets a wonderful tone for the entire release. Next up Emiliano Demarco makes his Sound Avenue debut following a strong EP for Suffused Music in June. Here the Argentinean artist now presents his most sought after production to date entitled ‘Today’. Rippling waves of bass, charming motifs and vibrant percussion highlight the eight the minute journey, which is perhaps Emiliano’s most accomplished work to date. Also making his label debut is Nico Bruno who has past appeared on Sound Avenue affiliate 3rd Avenue. Also hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Argentina, Nico presents the deep and moody ‘Prisma’. Delicate melodies combined with a chunky, percussive groove make this perfect for early or late night play. Scene veteran Monojoke is next and makes his long awaited label debut with ‘Shadowlands’. The much loved Guy J favourite delivers one of his deepest and most refined compositions to date, complete with jangly hooks, heartfelt chord changes and that unmistakable Monojoke electricity. Hailing from Switzerland and heading up the Stereo Enchained label, Feri too makes his Sound Avenue debut with ‘Endeffekt’. Known for his deep, minimal and ultra refined sound, the Swiss artist plays sinister vocals off enchanting synths and hypnotic motifs for the ultimate contemporary, meditative creation. Frequent studio partners Paul Deep (AR) and Martin Gardoqui have been hot this year with Hernan Cattaneo support and keep the momentum rolling here with the deep, chuggy ‘Hairless Groovy’. Melodic overlays and timeless chord changes highlight the main break before a rumbling finale adds more fuel to the sonic fire.
The halfway point of the collection marks the return of Hot TuneiK to the label. The Mexican artist and Hookah Records label boss never disappoints and brings some of his best work here in ‘Under 115′. Aptly titled it comes in mid tempo, warm and ultra groovy with that signature Hot TuneiK swing. Continuing on a deep path AavA makes his label debut with ‘Makes Me Cry’. Highlighted by soulful vocals and orchestral designs this is a stunning creation which not only crosses genres but touches hearts. The Argentinean duo of Lucefora and Boggan are up next and present their debut collaboration entitled ‘Yage’. Percussive and playful, the piece moves through mallet-like motifs before an expansive break brings waves of atmosphere and a vocal narrative that’s sure to light up your dance floor. One of Poland’s finest progressive house exports Rafa’ EL makes his much anticipated debut on the label with ‘Ride The Wind’. From its deep and dubby beginnings the Polish artist brings a unique melodic flair with shimmering synths and spiralling designs. Cosmic and emotive in equal measure it hits just the right spot and sets up the final track from Tomin Tomovic perfectly. The Slovakian artist makes his Sound Avenue debut in style with ‘Flow’. Presented here is the ‘Piano’ version which bounces pearly keys off the dark, menacing underbelly. Acid lines and rugged rhythms converge for a free flowing cadence before one final break showcases the exquisite musicality, ultimately ending the collection off on a high note.
An auspicious start to the series which will no doubt become a home for some of the freshest music in underground for years to come.
